The New Nintendo Power.

Well I just got done reading the first issue of the new Nintendo Power. As many of you might know they’ve recently made some changes in the writers and is now being published by Future Magazine one of the biggest Video Game Magazine publishers.

Let’s start with some positive things: it had good reviews as always, not much in the setup was changed, and it’s still a very good read overall. One thing I’m reluctant to like is the new pulse; it just wasn’t the same for me, but they still did a great job. I will miss the old writers, but I’m very excited to see what the new people can bring to the table. They made a few noticeable mistakes, like saying Super Smash Bros. Brawl Release was Dec 3, 2007 (I think Not!) Their way ofwording things isa bit different, but it’s different people, so of course it will have a different feel. I will still renew my subscription, I just need to warm up to the new views of the new writers.

I’m very Excited for the Future of Nintendo Power.

One of the WORST things about the new issue is that now you HAVE to send a POSTECARD in to enter the contest. They dont have the poll thing any more. Im too lazy to do that. Plus there still calling it players poll.

(also are the same people doing the reviews???)

  • http://WiiNintendo.net FlamingSquirrel

I thought the reviews were shit. Plain and simple. They were less informative than the back of the box. Other than that, not much changed. I don’t think I’m gonna renew. I was all exited when I looked at the review section, with Battalion wars and all these games that no one else had reviewed yet, but the reviews were crap. Just a little blurb on the game, and what it’s about.

Is it me or there’s really more publicity in this issue then any others ?

  • http://WiiNintendo.net FlamingSquirrel

    More ads? I noticed that.

  • Max

More adds less of reviews as FlamingSquirrel pointed out.
There’s alot I don’t like ,but I’m trying to stay positive.

  • scullum2001

That stinks that there’s more ads…

Anyone know how to update my address with the new publishers? I moved (obviously), and I changed my address on Nintendo’s site, but since they’re not publishing it anymore, will they share my address change with Future?

    ^^^^^^^
and, just in case you’re confused, my move happened between the last issue and this one that just came out.
(and i have not received that issue yet at my new address.)

im crying as i read the letter

the review writers are the same

This is only their first issue, so of course there’re a few things missing including fan art. That’s why they’re asking us to send some photos in, with NSider forums down and all.

Keep in mind, now subscribers get an annual extra issue between December and January (Smarch issue?) to keep up to date in the holidays.

Show your support, at least it’s better than no NinPow.

Soo… The Pulse is completely boring now? Aww… I’ll check this issue out, if it’s bad I’ll stop getting NP I guess.

  • Max

I wouldn’t say boring they still had comment ,but it different which could be expected.

They went over what was happening so a little boring this time. I wouldn’t judge intell 2-4 issues in so they can get the hang of it.

  • MarioLinkSamus

I’m sure it’s a great mag, but what does it offer that the Internet can’t? NP doesn’t have enough exclusive insight to warrant a subscription.

  • scullum2001

Anyone have any ideas about my change-of-address question from my comment earlier (# 7 & 8)?

I thought that was in the forums(Which you should all join!)

    This cam with the mag:

@Max – Thanks for the info. I didn’t think to check the forums. I’m hardly on them here (more on the NSider Forums). What’s that email address end in? .com, .org, .net???

  • Max

    ohhh sorry .com

  • Domshen

I am very sad about this “New Nintendo Power”. Just from last issue alone there was 20 less pages in the actual magazine and double the ads at a whopping 40 ads….. You cant read through any of the sections without running accross an add. None of the mag is fluent like it used to be. I do not think that I will renew my subscription and in fact I would like my money back because I am not getting what I paid for. I wasnted a mag that was written by Nintendo for Nintendo fans. Now I have a mag that is written by the same people that write the “official” Xbox and Playstaion mags… Does anyone else see a problem with this?

  • Johnny

hmm i just started my subscribtion and my first issue is this one. i had a subscription a while ago too..

ive noticed twice the amount of ads,

the book looks really thin compared to my old ones,

there is no more pictures on the spine of the book, its just black.

    no fan art,,

when i try to rip the posters out they just rip unevenly.

reviews are short and no details.

there is no more blue blob allen

ok an example about ads, i just opened the mag at a random page, and both sides were ads.

lets try again,,, ok, right hand side was an ad. one more time,,,

ok again, right hand side was an ad, ok, really, one more time,,, ok, again, right hand was an ad. ill do it again until i find a page with no ads,,,

    oh! ok i found one.

ok the only bonus i think is the extra holiday issue.

well thats all i have to say

  • Johnny

alsooo all over this issue it says dec 3 for ssbb.

and the text is really small!

  • Maverynthia

Also notice the jump in price. More ads, less pages and a $7 price invreace to renew. Let’s say I’m not going to. I sent in my disapproval to the Pulse link and of course they only printed a glowing review the next issue of how people like the new look… are they BLIND!
