Silent Hill 5 and the Wii.

I posted last week on about concerns of “Wii Lacking play time” popping up lately, and now it seems that this type of mentality is starting to affect game development for the Wii.

Most people seem to think that if there is any Wii boredom, it is because there is a lack of interesting titles out there for the console. This seems like a bit of a catch 22.

Gamepro reports that a designer for Konami said he doubts that Silent Hill 5 will be released for the Wii, due to Wii “usage concerns”. If this is in fact the case, then maybe someone should tell Konami that if they make an interesting product, people will buy it.

Would Silent Hill 5 be an interesting product for the Wii? Probably to many. I kind of have my doubts based on the last Silent Hill game I played (that is more based on my opinion of the game and really has nothing to do with the console), but I think the franchise is a big enough hit to spark some interest, especially with what would potentially be a new spin on it with the Wii Controls.

But I guess Konami doesn’t think it’s worth it to even try. Hopefully this kind of thinking won’t be too contagious among game developers. It’s hard to believe that it is even a concern at this point since retailers can’t even keep the consoles on the shelves.

It should be interesting to see how Manhunt 2 sells on the Wii. If sales for this product are good it could really catch the attention of developers with the “Silent Hill” mentality.

Well, it’s only a week until Manhunt 2 releases. Let’s show all those other doubting third-party developers what’s good.

There has never been a Silent Hill on any Nintendo system. If it plans to stay that way, then be it. I’d rather see Dementium on Wii in place of Silent Hill 5.

They should release the Silent Hill arcade game since it’s a lot like House of the Dead and other arcade shooters.

I honestly have not played a Silent Hill games since 2. It’s not because I don’t like Silent Hill, I love it actually. I just haven’t owned a console that it was available for (Well I could have got 4 for Xbox, but I wouldn’t know what happened in 3). If I were available on Wii, I would get it.

That would be another option to bring the arcade version of Silent Hill (now out in Japan) over to Wii like what they’re doing with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. So while the other platforms get Silent Hill 5, Wii will get Silent Hill: Otherworld Chronicles. \:D/

Nah, I’m still rooting for Dementium for Wii.

This is just one of a zillion examples why Nintendo has to ball up and actually release a line of mature rated games on their own. If they really want to appeal to the masses, then let them make a model for all to follow. Sure it might not be as great as a Silent Hill, Halo or God of War, but at least it gives more developers something to work off of since it seems they definitely dont want to take the time to go backwards in technology. I mean come on Nintendo: Does everyone in your development team watch Barney and listen to Hanson all day? There has to be some disturbed individual that can help you get some good idea out there. It might be wise to have that person develop a game before they end up going Postal in your building due to regression. Hell, give me a ring! Im nuts!

I am pretty sure game companies are stupid. First they complain no one buys their piece of shit games on the wii. Then they don’t make the games that people actually will buy for the wii.

Maybe they don’t want to make money.

    I’m not really sure.

Yeah the sales figures for Manhunt 2 should hopefully send a clear message, as will the figures for RE:Umbrella Chronicles if that turns out to be any good.

As I’ve said before: Konami if a Silent Hill games comes out on Wii, it’s sold. I don’t own another NG console, so no Wii version means you loses a sale. So, do you want to sell me a copy or not?
