Naturally, Sega seems to think so. In a recent interview with MCV, Product Manager Phil Lamb explained his high hopes for the upcoming game.

“This will be a leading title at Christmas. We have fully set our sights on it being the number one Wii title but are confident that this title has the potential to also achieve the top slot in the All Formats chart too,” said Lamb.

The original Wii Sports title, he says, only scratches the surface of the sports genre.

“Mario and Sonic goes way below the surface,” he continued. “We’ll be following Nintendo’s lead and ensuring that we are effectively hitting that universal audience of five to 95 year-olds from as many angles as possible. TV will take the lead with a massive campaign running from launch through to the new year.”

The Sega potential blockbuster hits the shelves on November 6th in North America.

That line says it all. With the proper promotion, it’ll sure to hit the spot. It better be cool commercials though, and done right or else it won’t see the top. This’ll go in conjunction as the Official Olympics ’08 video game. Those who’ll watch the Olympics will surely see a lot of this game.
