Nintendo Wii Super Paper Mario: The Movie? October 5, 2007

Super Paper Mario for Wii has been well received by the critics, as evidenced by an 85 score on Metacritic. And the gaming public loves it as well, with a reported 1.55 million copies sold.
But does all that success warrant a movie spinoff from the Nintendo Wii title? Seth Gordon, director of the hit documentary King Of Kong, certainly thinks so. And this is a fella who knows his Nintendo.
“I’d love, really love, to adapt Super Paper Mario into a movie, a movie that would constantly switch from 2D to 3D. In five years, 3D cinema is going to be really big,” he said in a recent interview with Ignore Magazine.
“(KoK) was screened for Nintendo, but I haven’t had the chance to speak to anyone over there about it. But I definitely want to have that conversation.”
In the meantime, Cohen is working on a feature film remake of King Of Kong. “As it’s being written, it’s intended to be a remake that explores the moments we couldn’t be present,” he explained, insisting it is not a sequel.
