Oblivion Game Engine to Support Wii September 12, 2007

Emergent Game Technologies has announced today that the next-gen engine “Gamebryo†will now support the Wii. This engine will now give developers a chance to have a significant head start by implementing necessary features that usually don’t come with standard SDK’s. The company states that they are committed to “making multiplatform development as painless as possibleâ€Â.
The engine has been used in games like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and is currently being used for Fallout 3. The engine has been used in over 200 games including EA Mythic’s Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

this doesn’t mean oblivion is coming to wii. I still personally dont think the wii is capabale of running oblivion and that’s that. The game doesnt even fit on a Wii optical disk.
Also, this is only the engine to the game. Its one of the most common engines in the world. Its bound to already be used on wii somewhere in development anyway, so its not exactly big news.

Ummm no i don’t think any Wii games used this engine, that is why it supports the Wii now. Also yes this doesn’t mean oblivion will be on the Wii but this will help cut down production times for new games and already has many ‘next-gen’ features built into it.
Basically this will raise the graphic bar for Wii games. It WILL NOT mean we get oblivion like games since that is in 720p but this is a GREAT start in the right direction. Can’t wait to see games will use this engine…
Bust out the shades BABY!!!

so, this mean that games on the wii can have the same graphics as oblivion did on the 360?

This simply means that a game made for 360 could be ported more easily if it uses the gamebryo engine. Unfortunately, hardware has to much to do with it, so unless some incredible new technology is invented, the wii’s graphics are gunna stay put, pretty much.
