The Death of my PSP September 6, 2007

About two months ago I wrote an article about my newly aquired PSP. What I liked about it, but mostly what I didn’t like about it.

The PSP is much more complex than the DS as you all should know. Its probably made up of 3 million tiny japanese parts all put together. All of these parts compacted into a tiny space and if anything at all goes wrong, it will suffer.

Heres the story:

So I go to turn on my PSP, all I see is the green power light and the blacklight come on. So I think to myself “hmm it was working fine yesterday, I’ll just try it again”. So I flipped the power off and then on again, same thing happens. At this point im getting kind of frustrated, I consult my manual on trouble shooting and it gives me instructions a bunch of different conflicts to deal with, just not mine. After hours of wondering the same question over and over (“what the hell?!”) I have given up. I see broken pixels, frozen screens at multiple points, and I can’t even get the the main menu. So I’m gonna do what I can to contact Sony about this, try to get a brand new one, then sell it and never touch a PSP ever again!

So lets recap here, I have had my hunky old DS since 2004 and it is in fantastic shape. I have had my PSP for two months and its busted. Now I’m furious with Sony, I am not an angry guy but when I blow over 200 bucks on a PSP, memory, and a game that I can’t use because it only lasted two months. Yeah, I’m pissed.

    I dunno. I've been through 2 ds lites 2 ds phats, three GBAs.. but only ONE psp. maybe i'm more careful with the thing, but it's a tank. and it's had it's share of bumps and bruises too. I love my PSP and my DS lite. wouldn't give em up.

    Well ya see i got my psp about a year ago but the first one i got wasnt working so we got another for free and the one i got is just fine and it happend to most of my friends and my new one is white its the newest psp there called slim n light there cool but where i got is a secret

    ds suks shit i got my psp 2 years ago and it still is in perfect shape ... u jus dont kno how to use a gud handheld (itz not shity lyk ds) if u rlly think psp is complex ... u must be 5 years old

    Dude Anon, you don't even help out okay? You are a user and I don't see any articles by you! Just because I'm a little angry doesn't mean my news doesn't deserve some post time. I wanted to be a writer on this site not just so I could bring Nintendo news about, but also so I could rant, and put my opinion out there. Ohhh he said the A word... chill man.

    Roth, nobody reads the forums, the primary news is right here at wiinintendo.net. If it gets to be too much opinionated then we can enforce it. But come on man, show some sympathy.

    I would be mad as hell too. I don't plan on getting a PSP, at all really. there aren't any games on it that justify buying the PSP, and memory. People will tell you "but you can watch movies and listen to music!" But you can do that on the DS too. just get an M3 simply or R4 for $80 you can play homebrew, listen to MP3s, and watch movies (around 500 mbs per movie) with 2gbs of space. not to mention putting all you games on one card.

    you should have known that before you bought a sony console...
    i know of dozens ps2 that just passed away from one moment to the other. My friends ps3 froze after 2 months never to be working again.

    PSP is really fragile. It only lasted 2 months for me. It fell to the ground from not a very high place, and there was the end for my PSP. My DS has fell to the ground a couple of times, and still in perfect condition.

    Sorry to hear that man, it should be still under product warranty, maybe even store warranty. As for contacting Sony, I hope they have improved their customer service since the last time I heard reports (down right atrocious reports). Let us know how they deal with you when you call.
