Rare answers VC enquiries

RarewareLogo
Rare is constantly mailed questions about their games and answers them in a not so common way, which is why I bother to read them in the first place.

They’ve recently been aksed to questions concerning Nintendo’s Virtual Console and whether or not games will be released on it. They gave us answers which can only let us hope.

The question being asked was:

7) Any chance of Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, or Donkey Kong 64 on the Virtual Console?

And Rare’s reply:

7) Banjo team: “Maybe, but not up to us.” That’s what I thought.

In reply to another letter with a similar question Rare stated:

As for VC, it’s ultimately Nintendo’s decision what gets released. Beyond the DKC games we don’t have anything in the pipeline at the moment, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen in future. OMG CORPERATE ANSER#!1

Highlighted by me is the important part. If I understood this correctly this actually means that Nintendo has the rights to publish these title on the Virtual Console.
Who knows, maybe we will see the likes of Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Perfect Dark, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini and my personal choice: GoldenEye 007 on the VC in the future

I hope they release DK64. I LOVED that game

  • harry

    HELLO?!?! perfect dark?!?!

  • kevin

theyre definitely not releasing conkers bad fur day. first of all, you can just buy the xbox version, and second of all, its waaaayyy to naughty for our friendly little console

  • Andreas

    BAD FUR DAY!!!

  • GoldenEyeFighter

Dude, forget donkey kong, what about Goldeneye 007?!?!?!?!??! Best game ever for the N64? Why is this not on the VC?

  • Gerj91

Golden Eye, Perfect Dark: OK… BUT WHAT ABOUT KILLER INSTINCT!? :S Three times better than MK…

  • http://wiinintendo.net/index.php?s=MJ MJ

I completely forgot about Killer Instinct, probably because I never liked it that much.

I want GoldenEye 007 so bad… I guess Bad Fur Day could be too adult, though it would get an M rating so I don’t see what the problem is and with parental controls on the Wii…

This has nothing to do with the article, but Drivecleaner 2006 always come to bother when I’m on your website. Is it one of your sponsor ?

    this thing is pain.

  • Steve

Sweet… At least we know it’s possible for them to come out on VC.

@ Kevin — Not everyone has an XBox, so it might make sense to release it on another system. Not that I will get it, but I’m just saying…

  • Casey

Conker would have a chance to be released anyways. M rated games not coming to Wii? Look up Manhunt 2….and please stop calling it a ‘kids console’. It is, by far, the most catering to children, but Nintendo isn’t against releasing M rated games by far. Also, notice all the games that release to the gameboy DS…. Any game franchise has a chance to come to Wii, it’s all based on hardware limitations and frankly, how hard it is to adapt it to the Wii-mote.

  • Will

How about Battle Toads. I think I sent them a similar response around the time of the systems launch and it took them this long to respond. I guess that would be the hopeful part about it but the entire, its not our choice response just puts us back to square one on the issue. I mean, didn’t most of us already know this?

  • chase carter

Conmkers bad fur day has to come out cuz I bought the wii just for the VC games!!!

  • kevbo

Umm honestly go play ‘Scarface’ for the WII and let me know if you think they won’t release Conkers. Scarface is very mature (you can PISS on downed opponents… im not kidding) so i think anything is open game…

    Goldeneye is the obvious one
(little known fact: in the original Goldeneye for the 64, you could use two seperate controllers in each hand, effectively making it the first use of TWO analog thumbsticks…. revolutionary…)

I still play goldeneye on my 64…

  • Conker

They Better release my ^$#! game programmers wanted me to make they should release it…that and the @!#$ i went through-conker

  • ron
