Project O fit for a King

A report from IGN has unveiled new details for the mysterious Project O, a new game heading to Wii, and headed by a ‘Dream Team’ of developers.

Official name and story revealed.Ousama Monogatari, as it’s known in Japan, translates roughly to King Story in English. The story revolves around a poorly young boy named Corobo Bread, who discovers a crown. This crown has magical powers, which transforms Corobo into a king.

The aim of the game is to see your kingdom grow and prosper, by assigning jobs to your various subjects. At the beginning, your kingdom is nothing more than a few fields and a building, which is your home. While exploring the town, residents will begin to follow you, and when you’ve got enough people together, you can direct them to clear land, build roads and residences, or even search for treasure. Tasks are determined by the amount of people you have available, ranging from small groups to large throngs.

Kingdom growth changes what becomes available to you, whether it’s a weapons shop, or a restaurant. Building the kingdom is not the only problem, though – enemies, such as dragons, appear at times to cause pandemonium and destroy what you’ve worked to build. Larger enemies require more people to overcome.

RPG elements are also hinted to be in the game, with each resident having their own story, and possible side-stories opening up depending on who you talk to. Japanese magazine Famitsu has reported the game to be at around 35% completion, and will not see release until sometime next year, but those keen on seeing it in action can look forward to some footage at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
