prime Real Quick Review Metroid Prime 3: CorruptionOne hour and thirty-five minutes in, you can understand why I’m calling this a real quick review. Anyway, one of the big three has finally hit our beloved little console, and I can’t imagine anyone saying it hasn’t been worth the wait. MP3:C is a thing of beauty. To keep this spoiler free, I’ll spare the story, and feature the features.

Already the game is more cinematic and immersive than previous Prime outings, with suprisingly up to snuff voice acting, beautiful graphics (bloom!) and art direction, and (as touted on the back of the box) truly the best FPS controls on Wii to date. When setting up the game, you’ll immediately want to turn your controls to advanced, which allows for lock/free look shooting. It’s obvious that Retro dug deep to deliver the precision found in MP3:C. While shooting is a breeze with the wiimote, I’ve found myself in scan mode for a good majority of the game, to make sure I pick up every token possible. The best kept secret about MP3:C was their mini-achievment ingame system. If you scan a certain number of items, or kill a certain number of enemies, you unlock tokens that can be used to buy extras in the, where else, extras section. Some achievments present you wtih friend vouchers you send to your friends, in order to get green tokens. This extra feature makes the sometimes-tedious monotony of scanning pretty fun, as you’re always wondering if you’ll be picking up another token. This game is epic, and as far as we can tell at this point, it will be one of the standout titles of the Wii’s lifetime. If this game is scoring high across the board, you can rest assured that it isn’t due to hype, but merely warranted due to the painstakingly evident hard work put into this staggering game.

Real Quick Review Score (1-5)

5/5

(Must Have)

Note: Expect a more indepth review later this week. Also, if anyone wants to trade friend vouchers, feel free to comment with your wii friend code and I’ll exchange with you.

    bioshock is boring??? wut???

I used to hate Metroid. The backtracking, and slow gameplay. This erases all of that. Its a new, better Samus Aran. Great game. Get in a car, drive, buy it, play it.

I honestly think this game is better than bioshock, its going to have more sales plus bioshock is boring.

okay, i have it, and I like it - but really, it's not *that* good... The first person control scheme woulda benefited from a quickturn option (a la Resident Evil 4), and the graphics look like a reasonably good gamecube game - sure, EXTRA detailed, but still.

i give it a four!! It's wierd that everyone's going ga-ga over it, but me. and i usually love the big games. :I
