In Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The Subspace Emissary, it’s rumored that there will be boss appearances.

This time, I’d like to introduce the first boss you encounter: Petey Piranha!

He… He’s huge!

Too intense!

Locked in the iron cages he holds are the princesses, Peach and Zelda. He looks angry. Wh-what is he doing?

He’s attacking with the iron cages!

You can save either Zelda or Peach, depending on which cage you damage more and subsequently break.

Personally I’ll go for Zelda too. What is Petey going to do with Peach?? Who would you guys choose? Please leave a comment with your answer.

    Awesome! The fact that this game will most likely have a diverging storyline (as evidenced by the Zelda/Peach choice) makes single-player all the more exciting.

    Also, I think this effectively kills Petey’s playable chances. He apparently doesn’t have much a moveset (whack with cages and probably goo spit) which means shrinking him down to playable size doesn’t do much. Interesting…

    If I was Mario, I’ll save Peach but if im Kirby or some other characters I’ll probably save Zelda! ;) But it doesn’t really matter.

    I would save Peach. I think she has been kidnapped alot for now. Awesome update, this reduces chances of Petey being playable…

    Wow… I don’t think other games could do daily updates because not many games have THIS MUCH CONTENT… I mean, there is a lot of stuff going on in this game!!! I love it…

    I would go for Zelda as well, she is better fighter, better looking, and not a whiny beatch… ;-}

    I would go for peach, in melee i was a better fighter with her, but I’m not sure you get to play as them as soon as you free one

    Yeah right Zelda sucks at fighting thats why there is sheik.Any ways I,d save peach because Zelda would just teleport out of the cage.Even when kidnapped in the Games she don’t teleport..

    Maybe the princess that you save becomes your ally and fights alongside you while you try and save the other one.

    Just for the record, Zelda does not have the ability to teleport. Don’t confuse the powers she has when possesed by Gannondorf with those she actually has herself. Also there are several Zelda’s, not just one (Nintendo’s screwed-up story arc) so the powers of a zelda from one game don’t necessarily apply to another. As far as the video goes, I don’t think that was a teleport, rather a super-fast dash. If not then that makes no sense what-so-ever!

    I mean… I think one of the Mushroom kingdom princess is to be kidnapped, I actually think that… 1: She is used to, and she’s having fun (more more more!). 2: She’s bored of it…

    I don’t like why, but i’d choose peach. Oh… I love the way she floats her way xD… Zelda is cool too…

    Zelda can teleport. She did it in SSBM and she did it in the first Subspace preview video. She can clearly teleport in the SSB universe.

    On a different note, I’d like to put out two theories (one simplistic and one in-depth) on the cages and why Zelda didn’t transport out.

    In-Depth: After Petey Piranha bashed the two cages together, Zelda and Peach turn into trophies. They look very stone-like in the videos and the images in the Petey Piranha update seems to show them in the same pose no matter how they’re move about (although it’s hard to tell). One issue is the fact that Zelda and Peach are in different poses than in the movie but that COULD be chocked up to artistic license.

    Simplistic: The cages block magic. :p

    I’d choose Peach, just because I love the Mario series, I think that Petey will carry Zelda off and you will have to rescue her later.

    I think, Petey Piranha and Bowser are by far the most interesting characters in this game. I mean i was not really into the mood of gettting this game, but it’s getting really interesting ! I like the graphic approach they took, avoiding for a while the “shiny” drawings.
