47 Percent of DS Users Aren’t Aware of Dual-Screens

Sure, we know that lots of (I HATE this word) “casual” gamers are purchasing the DS, but do they even open it up? I’m starting to think they just like to look at it. They also, obviously, don’t know what DS stands for. I know this because while perusing the latest NPD study, I came across this little tidbit:

While outlets have been laughing at the fact that not manywhile Nintendo DS (NDS) functions that system users and likely purchasers are most aware of are touch-screen (57 percent), dual-screen (53 percent) and stylus function (49 percent).

While I feel the blinking emoticon would be most appropriate in this situation, I don’t think it’d be professional. So I’ll leave the blinking to the readers.

Depends on who they interviewed “likely purchasers” could just mean random parents who are buying it for their kids and haven’t got a clue what it is.

I somehow doubt that players of games like Brain Training have somehow missed the fact that you need to use the stylus and 2 screens to play it. Also, doesn’t the DS ask you to touch the screen when you start it up every time?

Yeah but you can press A, you don’t have to touch the screen. Either way, its a strange statistic.

“DS” doesn’t stand for Dual Screens. According to the developers, It stands for Developer’s System

how can you not know it has 2 screens i mean come on

  • Auron

You can use the dual screen while not being aware of it. Similar situations have happened perviously in which the user uses an utility without being aware of such thing.
