Technically it’s the Japanese import “Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race”. My first time playing I ended up in 3rd place, overall. The controls took a little bit to get used to and not being able to understand Japanese made it difficult to figure out what Wiimote action did what.

I did notice a tutorial mode where they had the original Donkey Kong Country music playing, but again since it was all in Japanese it really didn’t help much.

  • Regarding the controls:

You basically drum roll the wiimote and nunchuk to get "max speed" at that point you don't need to "drum" the controls until you lose speed again. To turn left you "drum" the nunchuk and to turn right you "drum" the wiimote.

You use "Z" to use an item (like Mario Kart) that you find in the question marked balloons.

If you you swing both the nunchuk and wiimote down at the same time you jump.

I saw about 10 tutorials in Cranky's tutorial section, but I couldn't understand them, so I'm sure there are a bunch of other control options.
  • I don't think the Bongos are supported, otherwise it'd be called Bong Blast instead of Barrel Blast. But I'm still getting this game. It's like a Diddy Kong Racing on the home console. \:D/

The original bongos better be used in the game or I won't buy it.

Do you know if you'll be able to use the original bongo's with the game?

I watched it all and I couldn't understand a single thing that was going on besides that it was a race...
  • So how is it controlled? Is his arms going up and down the same as your arms going up and down with the wiimote and nunchuck? If so, do your arms get tired?
