Super Smash Bros Dojo Update #54

Ike: Special Moves

Ike’s up special move, obviously, is “Aether.” And it is ethereal. Oh, yes.

<Up Special Move: Aether>

ike1

First he throws the sword!

ike2

Then he leaps after it and catches it in midair!

ike3

Then he swiftly plunges, slicing the air!

Of special importance is the fact that he is resistant to attacks for a moment right after throwing his sword.

ike4

He’s not flinching?!

He’s not really invincible—he still takes damage. But he won’t flinch in the slightest.

This time, there are several moves like this among the heavy characters, so watch out!

Oh, he also has this special move…

<Standard Special Move: Eruption>

ike5

His standard special move is called Eruption!
You can even charge this one up.

    I”m pretty sure that Marth and Roy don’t bring their sword down hard on anybody below them. I’m so excited for December. Ike’ll kick butt.

    Peter S. Kenedy:
    Yeah, because a move where the character throws his sword into the air, grabs it, and slams it down is identical to an uppercut (with or without fire). Because a move where the character stabs his sword into the ground and causes fir to rise into the air is identical to charging energy into a sword for a powerful slash.

    Yup, perfectly identical, I say. Exactly the same in every shape and form, even though he isn’t. ;)

    well he does have extremely similar moves,eruption does some how resemble the charging sword and then an explosion,tho for the aether one,most characters(especially Kirby) have an upward attack the slashes the ground

    And your source for this “Ike is replacing Roy/Marth” information is what exactly?

    To put it simply, I highly doubt that Ike is a replacement for anyone nor have I heard any information so much as hinting at such a thing. While I doubt Roy will return (one of the least popular FE characters from one of the least popular FE games and was merely an ad in Melee), not having Marth to represent the Fire Emblem series is like not having Link to represent Zelda series. Marth was the original Fire Emblem lord, he is popular both in SSBM and the gaming world at large, and he has a unique moveset.

    While it is possible Marth could be cut, I don’t think it’ll happen.
