Get ready to hit the craps table, emphasis on crap. Vegas Stakes (SNES) and Bonk 3: Bonk’s Big Adventure (TG16) hit the virtual console (EU) today. Here’s the good ol’ presser:

Capcom Lineup for TGS

Filed under: News — Floating World @ 7:04 am

zack.jpg

Another Tokyo Game Show, another no show for Nintendo. (Although, they did just announce that they’re holding a press conference for they’re fall/winter gamers lineup right before TGS.) However, it doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing some fantastic Wii/DS products there.

The rest on the list:

  • Devil May Cry 4 (PS3, Xbox 360)
  • We Love Golf (Wii)
  • Treasure Hunter Z (Wii)
  • Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
  • Sengoku Basara 2 (PS2)
  • Rockman Star Force 2 (DS)
  • Wantame Music Channel (DS)

Sengoku Basara 2 (Devil Kings 2) is also on the Wii, but apparently that build won’t be playable on the floor. It’s pretty exciting to see heavy support from Capcom for Nintendo.

Make sure you support release like RE4: Wii Edition to let them know they should stick around.

Goldfish wreak…Havok? Physics Engine used in Carnival Games

Filed under: First Look, News — Floating World @ 6:49 am

carnivalgames.jpgSure I poked a little fun at Carnival games in my tough decision editorial, but honestly, as far as mini-game collections go, it looks solid. Apparently the Havok physics engine was used in the game (also used in Brawl), and a press release was issued to describe it:

Carnival Games TM comes to your WiiTM with plenty of Havok!

Dublin, 29th August 2007– Powered by Havok, the premier provider of interactive software and services for digital media creators in the games and movie industries, the latest Wii™ Multiplayer game, Carnival Games™, published by the Global Star division of 2K and developed by Cat Daddy Games, was released this week. Created exclusively for Nintendo’s Wii, this physics rich game is set to be one of the big hits of 2007 with people of all ages.

Super Smash Bros Update: #71

Filed under: News — Floating World @ 6:27 am

In the WarioWare games, you must master a variety of microgames in 5 seconds, making them the fastest and shortest games ever. You might want to look into it in more detail.

In trying to recreate that atmosphere in Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve created an outrageous stage!

Dodge!

Jump!

Wh-what the heck is this? What is going on? What kind of joke is this?

For each challenge you clear, there is, of course, a reward.

The typical screen looks like this.

Ah, what floor would you like, Smash?

Wii Beer Pong! August 30, 2007

YouTube Preview Image

Frat Party Games – Beer Pong has been designed exclusively for WiiWare, with accurate and easy to use controls. Frat Party Games – Beer Pong will feature three different play environments and allow players to choose from multiple tabletops to enhance the playing environment.

“Beer Pong is quickly becoming a worldwide sensation, from high-stakes competitions being held here in Las Vegas to more and more establishments creating Beer Pong environments to attract new customers,” says JV Games VP Jag Jaeger. “Being Beer Pong players ourselves, we realized this is a game niche yet to be filled, and the Wii® is the perfect system to replicate the game. We created a very accurate and realistic throw system. No buttons to time your throw with; just hold the Wii Remote like you would a normal ball and throw.”

Early response has been overwhelming. The Frat Party Games MySpace site (www.myspace.com/fratpartygames) experienced much activity, and staff is having a hard time keeping up with e-mail inquiries. “People are anxious to get their hands on the game,” Jaeger says.

The name of the game has been changed. After concerns were raised about the game promoting drinking and since they never had any drinking in the game, they changed the name from “Beer Pong” to “Pong Toss” to better reflect it’s true contents and cater to a larger audience.
