NASCAR: Greg Biffle to Sport Wii Paint Job

Biffle’s #16 car to receive a temporary makeover.

Nintendo has announced that it will be sponsoring Greg Biffle’s #16 car in a pair of NASCAR races this August and September. Roush Fenway Racing will be outfitting Biffle’s Ford Fusion with a white-and-turquoise paint job and a large Wii logo on the hood (seen at right) for his races at Watkins Glen International in New York on August 12th and Dover International Speedway in Delaware on September 23rd.

“I’m excited about this partnership with Nintendo and the Wii system,” said Biffle. “I just got one myself and I love the boxing game. I’ve always been a fan of boxing and with Wii, it’s a workout. I really get into it. I’ll be driving the Wii car at Watkins Glen and Dover. I’ve got a pretty good record at Dover and I’d love to get the Wii car up front in both races.”

Both races will be aired on television for those not making the trek out to Watkins Glen (ESPN) or Dover (ABC), so tune in at 1pm EST on each race day to see the Wii try to dominate another race.

    Well of course this is a limited sponsor of the driver so likely this has been done before by any company who is anybody. Nintendo often sponsors teams and events (even concerts) as does Sony and MS. The main goal is to put your face out there for the consumer whether the car comes in first or last its still advertising. Though first place would be a better ad.
  • Nah, I believe the gaming departments of both Sony and Microsoft have sponsored other types of events. I think I remember seeing Xbox sponser in snowboarding or ice skating.

    That Dance 360 show that aireda couple years ago on UPN had Xbox as 1st place prize.

    Anyway, about "Wii Car". I like that SmartCar featured in the Wii commercials that those two Japanese guys travel in. I want one; heard it arrives next year to US. \:D/

    i hope he doest get like last. i know nothing baout nascar so i dont know if this guy is good, but if he gets last, thats embarrasing for nintendo. the good thing htough, only nintendo has a nascar! hahah beat that sony!
