External hard drive coming to Wii?

external hddJeux-France, IGN, CVG and others have all speculated on this, it’s been confirmed and denied a few times, but it seems that the rumors have grown stronger and more credible.

Nintendo could be preparing to unveil a Wii hard drive according to recent internet rumors.

It has been suggested that Nintendo will be showing off new hardware at this year’s E3 show, and all fingers point towards that being a hard drive to increase on the Wii’s relatively small 512MB of internal memory.”

I do remember something called the the n64DD? broadband adapter? We’ll have to wait and see.

Either way, I’d be happier to see some full Smash Bros. / Metroid / Mario Galaxy gameplay videos. If there is a external hard drive coming to the Wii it better have the ability to hook up any USB HDD, not just Nintendo proprietary drives.

Also, what would Nintendo need the HDD for? Game Demos?

Wasn’t the demo-channel supposed to have demos of only VC titles? I mean who’d want to download a gig per Wii demo?

Well, you’d have to speculate that they are revealing something that is going to take up lots of memory. VC Games maybe, but you’d need alot.

I reckon, Demo Channel, Media Channel.

Remember when we were supposed to be able to use those USB ports for something? Yeah, that would be great.

one solution would be making storage space on a server that was accessible via internet, so that purchases were recorded and games could be accessed – still, would always need internet access to be able to play.
I believe an external hard drive would be better in the long run.
