Circuit City: Paper Mario in stock, or you get $20

We know what it’s like to buy a new game at certain chain gaming stores that will remain nameless. You walk in, ask for new release, and then get asked if you pre-ordered. As a customer, it’s a bad sign when your question is met with another question. Then you say no, and they ask why not, and you get browbeat until you drive to a big-box retailer and buy the game there. Problem solved.
The message sent is that if you don’t pre-order, we’re going to make it a hassle for you to buy the game. This isn’t an inviting proposition if you don’t like pre-ordering, and I think it’s a terrible way to run a business. I haven’t been in one of those nameless stores in months, so it hasn’t bothered me in a while. I’m bringing it up now because, while going through the Sunday ads for game deals, I kept an eye out for Super Paper Mario, which looks awesome.
