Shit. This is the crap I don't want to read when I have five minutes time to do so. Metroid Prime was great. I know some people didn't like it because to understand the story you had to read a lot of text instead of having some movie tell you in the face, you had to think, connect the dots every now and then. Same thing with Metroid Prime 2, though if you like me did MP to 100% you already new some stuff when going into number 2. I also don't believe it was rushed because they gave you this ending which was clearly an indication for number 2, which means they already knew what they were going to do.

Yeah I'm hoping they'll really add some nice online multiplayer options as well seeing as not too many Wii games support online play yet. I would've wanted the VC games that have multiplayer to work online as well. Think about it, it's not too hard, all they'd have to do is get you connected to your friend's Wii and then it acts as if you're in the same room: choose 2 player in Super Probotector and you're off :)

Also, what I really don't get is why developers don't add more co-op features into games. There are quite a few of us who think "deathmatch" is incredibly boring and I'd rather play through an interesting story-line against NPCs with a friend than go online and start killing all these human players in a repetitive arena.

Multiplayer in MP2 wasn't all that great in my opinion but MP3:Corruption could be nice with the targetting system. We'll see. Just remember co-op! :)

I liked both Primes, each one add something interesting. MP1 was the start of an excellent FPS environment, and MP2 add difficulty and a very good plot [Dark Samus rocks].

What's missing? Online multi-player, of course. That's what everyone is waiting, and I'm sure that's the reason it's being delayed do much. They want a couple online-featured games to be released before MP3, just to test the WiiConnect24. They want MP3 to be a great online game, not the first one or a test.

Is that the official cover art for MP3:C?

I haven't played MP2:E all the way through yet. I bought it just for the multiplayer. Sad to say, it wasn't as good as Halo but it was worth adding to the Metroid collection. I'll see if I can continue on the mission after I finish Red Steel.

The sure-win will be online multiplayer, so if that's included then the $$ will be worth it and the game WILL be a hit. I'm sure there's a good chunk of Wii owners aching to do some online fragging.

Not to slam on Wii Sports because it's still my favorite title and I still play it a lot, it can't be all about getting grandma to play bowling. The fraggers are due for some action.

By the way, I wasn't too good at Halo online, but I still had fun playing. I'd love to do this with Metroid.

Well, I found the first one okay until the parts where you have to go back to get the artifacts.

That's when I quit, and never finished the game.

If this has online mulitplayer, I'll be buying it for sure.

I never got the original MP but did buy Echoes. 15 hours in and I was flat out bored. It really didn't feel fun, and the dark worlds were definitely boring. It is on my relatively huge list of GCN games to revisit, though.

First of all, I wouldn't compare the MP:Hunters controls to the MP2:Echoes ones simply because they're on totally different systems. Well obviously you can say which control scheme you like better but.. you get my point. :)

As someone said here MP2:Echoes was released very soon after the original MP. This means they rushed it because they had a finished engine and only needed new environments. Let's face it the weapon mechanics and visors didn't really differ in MP2 when compared to MP. Personally I thought MP was a great game and not boring at all, but MP2 on the other hand didn't have the mystic feel that MP had when first playing it. Obviously part of that was due to it being a new control system and different type of world than most of these WWII FPS games but MP2 just seemed to lack the feeling. It just put you in the middle of the action again and said "here, go kill something". MP2 felt rushed. Sort of like Viewtiful Joe 2.

What would've made it more interesting then? I guess the same thing that would've made Joe 2 more interesting, a multiplayer co-op mode. Or what about waiting a bit longer before releasing it, making people's appetites grow. I think the twin world theme was also boring and they tried to make it feel "new" when in fact that kind of setup has been used in many games (Zelda?) already.

These are just personal opinions mostly but I'm just saying I never liked MP2:Echoes but I did love the original MP.

I loved echoes, too.. One reason that it didn't sell so well (at least in europe) was that it only supported 60hz mode and not 50hz. The majority of european TV sets at that time did not support 60hz mode.

I was a bit pissed because i could only play it at my friends house.

i loved echoes. and found the immersion of the game and insight into the space pirate society really intriguing.

the sanctuary (cant remember its actual name) in echoes was one of the coolest things i can remember in either game. the level of detail that went into both games was really great to. for instance in the chozo ruins in the sun tower if you look out through the spaces between each level of the tower you can see magmoor and phendrana

yeah, I was kinda disappointed, I couldn't figure out what the hell I was doing, plus the controls in Hunters kicked way more ass.

What makes me really angry is that I expected FPS games to be announced on the Wii left and right, since the Wii has the potential to revolutionize the way FPS games are played, and all we get is freakin' Far Cry??? The consumers have chosen the Wii to be their next-gen system overwhelmingly but the developers keep on screwing us over with stupid remakes and stupid minigames. I'm tired of this crap.

I dont know about the second one but the first Metroid Prime for GC was somewhat boring compared to even the DS's Prime Huters campaign mode.

First of all I'd be careful about announcing that this game has been delayed when everyone knows that there wasn't an original date other than sometime this year. We are merely getting news that the date is being zeroed in and it is still in the works for release in '07. It's not like they said June 1st and now its hopefully by Christmas.

I'd agree with most peoples comments on the original Metroid Prime game. I played through it one and a half times. Other than trying to get 100% there was something missing from it and essentially no reason to play a sequal. I loved what they did with the FPS but it seemed, like many 3D conversions, content had been reduced from the original side scrollers. Strategy dwindled and so did general difficulty because of the somewhat unnatural controls.
I must say that I'm very excited about FPS on the Wii. It so far seems like a flawless, if not the best potential controls (looking with remote and straffing with the nunchuck). This and improved graphics are the prime reasons I will be getting this title.

As for the 2nd iteration of MP, I passed on it because it was released too soon after the first, and I had other things to spend my money on at the time. I actually got Echoes in the mail today from ebay for $10, so I will be playing it. I'm not a huge fan of sequals especially on the same console unless I feel there is a point to releasing them instead of trying to capitalize on previous success. It worked back in the NES days but alot of those games looked a lot different from the previous release (Super Mario 1-3). I don't think most people are willing to really leach onto a series unless it has a really good story and a different look (Resident Evil series as compared to House of the Dead). This is the same reason I passed on Majora's Mask. Consider Link to the Past and Super Metroid are two of the greatest games of all times yet sequals weren't made for them on the same console.

I didn't buy or play MP2, but I bought MP1. My worry is that despite some people loving both, many people thought the first one was mediocre and repetitive. This was apparently reflected in the sales of MP2.

I was disappointed in the lock-on aiming and the overall pace of the game. I was tired of enemies respawning when I went in and out of doors. At some point in the game, the enemies were just being skipped as I ran to the next area.

The only upside I can see is that the Wii is so perfectly suited for FPS controls. But it's a rent for me too at this point, the replay value is too low without online multi.

I have faith because Hunters was also delayed, and it was worth it ...

I'm disappointed, but I don't know how well FPS' are going to work on Wii.
