I really wouldn't think a company would intentionally shoot themselves in the foot like this. Of course they are trying to keep up with demand. Like I said before, it would neither benefit the consumer or Nintendo to slowly ship consoles when PS3 and X-box are looming in their wake. Consider all the people who picked up a 360 when they couldn't get a hold of the other two. Why would Nintendo want that? Another thing to consider is that they wouldn't want to over produce and have too much product before launch. Its merely a case of surprise, no one could have predicted the demand for the system especially after the performance of the last two systems and the release of PS3. This has the whole industry in a shuffle. Gamestop is just looking for a scape-goat for their shareholders. Try not ripping people off on used games and hiring unbiased employees.

It's something that perhaps only Nintendo will ever know. It seems that the marketing ploy that they had for the games is beginning to back fire. They were slowly dribbling games out to the consumer to let the user absorb the games as they were released.

Are they doing the same with the Wii console itself? I see that they had to rework the console to fight agaist the modders (they redesigned the board) so maybe this added to the time delays.

I'm just glad I got a Wii just after Xmas. I've never looked back.

Yeah, thats what I've always assumed as well. Though I have read some people in different forums pointing out that some parts of the world do tend to get more shipments of consoles than other.

I hear Australia has them in stock in a lot of places whil Canada is still dry.

I think Nintendo fiercely underestimated the huge popularity of the Wii console and are struggling to meet the high consumer demand and expectations, and it could be a case that their production line is not capable of developing the products as fast as Nintendo might have hoped!
