Two Top “Most Overrated” Charts
Chris Duffa of Game Daily fame wrote about his views on the most overrated icons in the video game industry. Low and behold, Nintendo reps own the top two slots:
-Reggie Fils-Aime at #2
-Shigeru Miyamoto at #1
Chris proclaimed that Miyamoto had to start inventing new IP’s and credit his fellow workers on making their games, not himself, and Reggie for not allowing the manufacture of more Wiis and the inclusion of friend codes.
I’ll have to disagree on some points here. Over the last five years, we’ve seen Pikmin, Excite Truck, Wii Sports, Wii Play, Animal Crossing, Mario Strikers, Donkey Konga, and Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, with even other second party Nintendo games like Eternal Darkness, Geist, Kirby’s Air Ride, Odama, and Chibi-Robo. And there is plenty of Nintendo political figures, like George Harrison, Takashi Tezuka, Satoru Iwata, Koji Kondo, and Perrin Kaplan, to name a few. How dare he accuse Reggie of not having enough Wii’s on retail shelves when the PS3 didn’t even make more systems than the Wii. It’s true you can find PS3′s everywhere, but there is little demand for that. It’s hard when demand is so high that you can’t produce enough.
