If you mod it would it really change the fact that they require a PAL version in the UK. I think that’s the point. The PAL version wasn’t transfered to true 480p. I always thought that the hz on their products made it important to create a PAL version. A US game would give them an altered picture because of the electrical standard (Why you get a b/w jumping screen when you change your dvd setting to PAL in the US). Correct me if I’m wrong.

I bought a copy of TW2007 for the Wii and took it back within around 2 hours – the ‘loading’ screen is in 480p, but as soon as it starts you see the screen resolution change and it goes into blur-o-vision.

Shame, because the game played pretty well, but the graphics stink that badly that it spoils the game….will wait for 2008 (as long as it’s 480p!)

MJ, you’re right, the US version of Rayman is 480i only. They FORGOT to include the options menu where you turn on 16:9 and 480p!

The fact that Europe is getting screwed over isn’t anything new though. I live in the UK and have been importing consoles for half a decade – I can’t understand why anyone would actually buy the European consoles, what’s the appeal of poorer quality releases, later, and with higher price tags?

I think they mean chip it and get the NTSC-version of Tiger Wodds 2007 – then you get 480p.

Modding the chip doesn’t help. The only thing it does is allow you to play Wii and GCN games from other regions.

I have a NA NTSC Wii with Wiikey, and the PAL version of Tiger Woods, and the screen overshoots my 1080i LCD TV; I cannot see the edges of the screen. This only happens with Tiger Woods (don’t have COD)…

At least he got a reply when he asked EA about it, I just got the standard “nothing to do with us” reply.

Once again Europeans are treated as second class customers, we pay a lot more and now get less for that money. It wouldn’t be so bad if Nintendo hadn’t region locked the thing at least then we could import proper versions of these games.
