PAL gamers getting reduced quality games?

It´s confirmed that EA has excluded the enhanced graphics in tha PAL-version of Tiger Woods 2007 for the Wii.

The NTSC (American) version of the game features 480p in widescreen, but the PAL version only plays in 576i widscreen. For people like Petter Jacobs from Sweden, who brought this to my attention, who have projectors… ouch.

On HD-ready-screens this means a MUCH lower look of the game and for me with a projector I can hardly read the letters in the game!

This is a shame that EA is ripping PAL-version of EDTV-graphics. I think EA will lose many european gamers if they keep doing this in the future. I (Petter from Sweden)at least, will not buy another EA-game if the continue to rip functionality from future PAL-release.

Tiger Woods does not support EDTV or HDTV resolutions. The EDTV logo has not been included on the Game Pack for this reason to indicate that there are no Hi-Def functions in this iteration of the title.

Q: Is TW2007 for Wii (PAL-version) able to run in 480p on not?

For the record:

- My other games works perfect in 480p on my Wii, always.

- I only have problem with 480p on TW2007, so in my case it IS only with your title and NOT a problem with my Wii in general.

    Call of Duty 3 has the same thing. 480p in the US, but not here in Europe.
    I think Rayman Raving Rabbids is the other way around though. I know the PAL version has 480p, anyone got info on the NTSC version?

    At least he got a reply when he asked EA about it, I just got the standard “nothing to do with us” reply.

    Once again Europeans are treated as second class customers, we pay a lot more and now get less for that money. It wouldn’t be so bad if Nintendo hadn’t region locked the thing at least then we could import proper versions of these games.

    Modding the chip doesn’t help. The only thing it does is allow you to play Wii and GCN games from other regions.

    I have a NA NTSC Wii with Wiikey, and the PAL version of Tiger Woods, and the screen overshoots my 1080i LCD TV; I cannot see the edges of the screen. This only happens with Tiger Woods (don’t have COD)…

    I think they mean chip it and get the NTSC-version of Tiger Wodds 2007 – then you get 480p.

    I bought a copy of TW2007 for the Wii and took it back within around 2 hours – the ‘loading’ screen is in 480p, but as soon as it starts you see the screen resolution change and it goes into blur-o-vision.

    Shame, because the game played pretty well, but the graphics stink that badly that it spoils the game….will wait for 2008 (as long as it’s 480p!)

    If you mod it would it really change the fact that they require a PAL version in the UK. I think that’s the point. The PAL version wasn’t transfered to true 480p. I always thought that the hz on their products made it important to create a PAL version. A US game would give them an altered picture because of the electrical standard (Why you get a b/w jumping screen when you change your dvd setting to PAL in the US). Correct me if I’m wrong.
