Sega’s Reitteration of Ghouls ‘N Ghosts

The middle game of the Ghouls series, Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, has been recently rated by the ESRB. I’ve never actually played this version of the game, and seeing that Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts has just came out, I am quite surprised that they will be releasing this one already. Well, what are your thoughts on this game and the Ghouls series as a whole?

I had SuperGnG for my SNES some yeas ago and like Nintendo states in the WiiShop, it’s damn hard. Especially as it’s more arcade you can’t save your progress, but Nintendo provides you the cheats ;)

Nevertheless, it was quite funny, jumping around as Sir Lord Naked of IHaveNoArmorButAKnife!

My first taster of the “Ghosts” franchise began on my trusty Commodore 64 and I’d be interested to play “Ghouls” on the VC in due course. Certainly one of my all-time favourite franchises.

Usually when it comes to the VC I prefer NES ports over the SNES versions. Super Ghouls N’ Ghosts was alright but I love a challenging game on the NES. There’s something about those games that made them feel comfortable with the most impossible games. Every system after that you almost expected to complete the game and SGNG was an exception (probably why I didn’t like it as much).

I don’t think I remember this title but Ghost N’ Goblins was hella hard. I remember playing that on a Dreamcast emulator disc where you could save states to the memory card. Suffice it to say, it was virtually impossible to complete that way as well. I always welcome a new challenge.
