House of the Dead 3 with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk

I thought it would be fun to play House of the Dead 3 with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk (shotgun style), so I modified VKapadia‘s WiiMouse IR script to support Nunchuk reloading and firing, some new LED and Rumble functions, and other game-specific features. It also works “handgun style”, with the Nunchuk disconnected, making for a more authentic experience in House of the Dead and House of the Dead 2, which are also fully supported by the script. Unfortunately, Virtua Cop (aka Virtua Squad) 1 and 2 do not work with IR aiming at this time, but I’ll continue working towards getting them supported, and will update the script if I am successful.

You can download my IR Gun+Nunchuk script here. To use it, you’ll need a compatible Bluetooth radio or adapter, GlovePIE, and a Wii Remote and (optional) Nunchuk and a Sensor Bar or other IR source.

Thanks Tiger, more videos and info from Tiger at Global Donimation 8

so, is it very expensive or difficult to get this going? Anyone here checked into this before or tried it out. I may.

If you don’t already have the Wii controllers and a bluetooth adapter, it’ll cost you around $80 to get it all. But this plays fine with just the Remote ($40) and bluetooth (~$20). HotD 1 and 3 have free downloadable demos to try out.

Once you have your Bluetooth installed and configured, you connect your Remote, open GlovePIE, run the script, and play the game. It’s not as simple as pressing the power button on your Wii, but it doesn’t require much thought or tedium after the initial setup.
