Developers are receiving online development kits…FINALLY!

At last we can look forward to some online gaming in the future. In a recent interview with The Mercury News, Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime discussed the future of Wii online play.

This is good news as the Wii has been lacking in any REAL online functionality. He states that the first online game to hit North America would be Pokemon Battle Revolution when it launches in the coming months.

As far as we are aware at this time, Nintendo will still be opting for the friend code system which as you know is very limited and does not give you as much freedom as the likes of Xbox Live but hey its still online gaming so get your routers fired up and practice your Japanese.

It’s definitely about time. I’m dying to play something against my Wii-owning friends. Still hoping for some VC network play.

awesome but i wish the online games had usage of a microphone headset
(maybe wireless?) because its sort of like playing single player with a human challenge without communication. and while im at it, why didn’t they make a mic. on the wiimote? they put one on the ds so what’s so hard about putting it on the wiimote? i hope they add it in the wiimote 2.0

I don’t think they would put in wiimote 2.. because that would mean all of the people who bought Wiimotes already, having to buy new Wiimotes to take advantage off the game.. I don’t know.. I wouldn’t miss a mic tho.. :)

A bluetooth microphone would be a good accessory to add to your gameplay. Maybe a DS connectivity can be done to use the DS’ Mic. I can see these possibilities for Mario Party.

why not just let us synchronise our allready exsisting bluetooth headsets (which we use for mobile phone and such) to communicate? The Wiimote uses bluetooth if I am not mistaken. So technically we hsould be able to add around 250 devices??

If you ask me a much better option and one that does not require we buy some added Nintendo apparel.
