Nintendo Phone!?!

Here’s some quick news on what Nintendo hasn’t told you about. Apparently back in 2001 Nintendo filed a patent for a phone. Engadget Mobile reports that the patent was issued last June. The phone was described as an ” electronic apparatus having game and telephone functions.” One question remains, will we be seeing a phone from Nintendo anytime soon? My guess is no, but there is always a chance. Here are some of the pics from the patent. I would rather have this than an iPhone.

    Yeah, that interface definitely looks like it’s from 1996, even though it’s just a mockup it concerns me that nintendo is lacking creativity on this front. In my opinion, the Wii and DS interfaces both leave something to be desired to say the least.

    Wii Phone ~ I could imagine one, but I prefer to have the same shape as the Wiimote only if it’s a phone. But for a PDA-type mobile, rather more a DS look with fold up like that Mitsubishi phone from the other post from last month.
