My Co-Worker, Pat Grubb, modeled this flawless Wiimote using 3D Studio Max 8, we’re going to be using it for various projects, but in the spirit of giving, we’re letting everyone download the .max file for free.

    What do you do for a living exactly, or is this a side project? Looks pretty awesome.

    My official title is “Lead Multimedia Developer” I work on a wide variety of “multimedia” projects from web applications using php, mysql, javascript, actionscript to 3D modeling, motion graphics, and editing.

    I work at a Multimedia and Video Production company in Philadelphia.

    The Wiimote was done out of boredom by my co-worker, plus we’ll probably end up using it for certain things.

    WiiNintendo.net is just a fansite/side project. If my dreams come true, I’ll be blogging for a living… I’m not holding my breath though.

    Very nice work. I wonder: would you consider putting an explicit Open Source license on this, so that people working on Free and Open Source Software projects can include it?

    Joe @ ByDesign Games Says:

    Thanks for this, am using this in a test scene with a Wiimote plugin for Unity, an perfectly awesome 3D engine (http://unity3d.com).

    Made some model updates, wanted to share back;
    - buttons are separate objects.
    - tweaked the diffuse texture; A button.
    - lights are separate objects (just colored planes for now).
    - added nunchuck plug (no nunchuck model yet).
    - elements are all named.

    FBX can be found here:

    Thanks again!
