Where’s the third-party love?

GI sat down with Brian Dreyer, business development manager for Frontline Studios, who said that publishers are currently watching how the Wii develops in popularity until releasing for the Wii as well.
Dreyer implies that people purchase Nintendo hardware for Nintendo games. I myself see this as no surprise when publishers are releasing games that are a bad port with motion controls. Nintendo on the other hand is developing only for it’s systems and most of it is quality, hence people buy a lot of Nintendo games instead of poor ports. Why would they do it any different? Development for the Wii is supposed to be cheap, but it may cost the publisher the profits of missing out on a Xbox 360 and/or PS3 title.
Take this example:
Capcom wanted to release 3 GameCube exclusive Resident Evil titles, but ultimately had to port RE4 to the PS2, because the game only moved about 1.2 million units while the PS2 version outsold it in a few months time.
Dreyer also states that they are working on a Wii title, because the Wii is back to the basics of gaming. Fun.
