Notice that they use decibel as measuring unit. Decibels are on a logarithmic base, which means that an increase of 3 dB means DOUBLE the noise than before! Regarding Media access, i agree, this must be peak values. Personnally i think the 360's DVD drive is alot louder than the wii's. These tests could be right.
