Excite Tree January 12, 2007

Tree Run Excite Truck is an amazingly fun racing game. Since I’m the type of gamer that loves to replay levels until I get the best score (well, except for Trauma Center cause I got pissed at the difficulty), I have trouble going on to the next track until I attain an S Rank. As the difficulty starts to ramp up toward the end of the normal mode and the beginning of Super Excite mode, I came to a realization:

The trees shall set you free.

Tree runs are a surefire way to get an S on some of the harder tracks. And no, I’m not talking about only attempting them after getting a POW Powerup. I’m talking about consistent drives off the main track near a huge mound of trees, even if you’re in 6th place. Try this: During the first lap, go for nothing but tree runs, every chance you get. I would crash a good majority of the time, but I’d still pull a huge amount of stars from passing even a couple of trees. In my experience, a focus on tree runs has added a good 20 to 40 points to my top scores.
Of course this can be amazing to me because I just suck and I can’t win any other way, but we all know that’s not true! :-)

Good to know, I’m trying to knock off the last two rounds in Super Excite as we speak (or type…)

Yeah, I just figured this out myself. I’ve started looking for the tree trails (usually without POWs) that are a sneaky way of getting lots of stars…still not to the end of Super Excite yet, though. Anybody know a good site for hints on these?
