36 New Virtual Console Releases For Q1 2007

Nintendo has recently announced that they plan to release 36 games in the first quarter of 2007. These games will come from all the systems: NES, SNES, N64, SEGA MEGA DRIVE and Turbografx (PC Engine). Some games included in this 36 are…..Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Street Fighter II: World Warrior (CAPCOM), Super Probotector and the hugely popular Super Mario World. No word as of yet as to what the others are but I am sure that we will hear alot more in the coming months.

SEGA is also treating its fans to a host of popular games including: Streets of Rage, Bio-Hazard Battle, Bonanza Bros and Comix Zone. Hudson will be entertaining gamers too with a selection of its best titles from the Turbografx (PC Engine) including Soldier Blade, Double Dungeons and New Adventure Island.

What games are you most looking forward too? What are your views on the whole Virtual Console concept? Any games you hope will make an appearance?

Edit: This is the press release for Europe, I forgot to mention that, sorry guys.

Was there a US press release yet? I think this information is based on the press release from Europe. I’d assume we’ll get mostly the same stuff, but I think that should be noted.

Yo this is good news even for us US residents, if Mario Kart and OoT are due out in europe, i’m sure we’ll get it sometime soon after (or before). which is freaking awesome. I havent been too intrigued by the Virtual Console soo far. Not too many games i actually want on there at this time, especially at the price their charging. I work at a game store, so a $10 copy of Mario 64 and a $5 copy of the original mario? i think not. Now, if an original cart of mario came in, i’d gladly spend more. but buying things on a device that i’ll never be able to move it kinda lame to me. But with a steady steam of new (old) releases, i’m sure i’ll pick up Orcana of time, Super mario World, Mario Kart 64, and maybe even some Donkey Kong Countries. but most the title’s we have out in the USA are better left alone…

From VC, I’ve got Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda and Super Mario 64. I’ll be getting FZero soon and I can’t wait until Kid Icarus, Super Mario Brothers 3, Super Mario World and Zelda 2 are available. I went from original NES to PS2, and never really played anything between. I really like the Virtual Console idea, and while it might cost more than finding these titles used, I don’t have to go buy a bunch of different console systems to play them. I just wish there were more titles available. I mean Gradius? Who was waiting with bated breath for that? SMB 3 has got to be the top of the wishlist for all the 30-somethings like me.

I agree, but I guess they do have to save some goodies for their longterm plans otherwise eventually the VC will just get lame and they’ll have to dig into titles like Karate Kid.

SF2 New Challengers (SNES) would be awesome… It includes 1-8 player tournament mode and some extra characters like cammy and t hawk. =)

I just can’t wait that Super Mario World & Super Probotector will be available to download in europe. ^^

As of right now, I already have Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, and Street Fighter II: World Warrior on my Virtual Console.

I’m looking forward to Mario Kart 64 (even though I already own the cartridge, I’d like to see it at a better framerate than on the N64), along with the first three Mario Party’s on the N64.
Street Fighter II: Turbo/Super Street Fighter II
    Mortal Kombat II
    Virtua Fighter KIDS (Sega Saturn)
Tournament Fighters (Ninja Turtles 1 on 1 fighting)
    Double Dragon & Battle Toads
and last but not least, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I mostly grew up on a SNES, N64, and so forth. I’ve missed some titles out on purpose just to shorten my post and give an idea.
