Wii Exclusive MMO?
Recently JoongAng Daily, a Korean news web site has revealed that Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata recently held a press conference with Korean media, explaining the company’s plans for its official subsidiary in the region.
As soon as January 18, the Nintendo DS Lite will be released in that region, while the Wii will be available later this year. Nintendo invested $26.9 million, and has established a local office since July.
Korea is well know for its love to PC gaming and MMO (massively multiplayer online) rather than console gaming, so this proofs to be a challenge to Nintendo and all others who currently are attempting to claim this region. Interesting enough though, Nintendo has began a partnership with the Korean game company Nexon, creator of the online racing game Crazyracing Kartrider and Korean publisher of the popular MMORPG MapleStory.

A Wii or Nintendo DS exclusive MMO would certainly help Nintendo expand their market share in Korea, and it certainly wouldn’t hurt to take those very same games and release them worldwide, which is what likely, or what we hope for, will happen.
