Fake/Rumor video, playing Wii backups.

I saw this last week and didn’t want to put it up because I am convinced it’s fake and didn’t want to help fan the rumor flames.

I’m 99% sure it’s fake, but being a member of a lot of different mod sites, I’ve seen a lot of early mod demos and claims where everyone called it fake and it ended up being true (Remember: “It is 100% IMPOSSIBLE to play SNES games on your DS using a flash cart” or “You can’t direct boot using the Viper mod chip for the Gamecube”, both of these were called fake and rumors and both turned out to be true.

So, in the spirit of Fox News, I’ll just say “We report, you decide”.

Just take notice of the dip to black in the video…

    This is fake, and I can prove it.
    There are actually 2 different wii’s in this video.

    look at the wii menu before and after “using” the bootloader.

    Before: Wii Shop Channel was active, the little bar above the date was curved and said “Wii Menu”.

    After: Wii Shop Channel was not active (looked like what the news channel looks like now), the bar above the date is a horizontal line (no curve), does not say “Wii Menu”.

    If it wasnt for the fact that the two wii’s did not have the same firmware, i would have believed the video.

    Actually, i didn’t notice that but what i did notice is at the start of the video the channel is like 4567 or something when he “restarts” it is av-1. Which’d mean all he had to do was switch channels. ‘N the wii boot loader was probably a swf file recordered using camtasia to be a mpeg. Cause you cant open executables…
