Few words can describe nintendos price for the Wii and they are TO HIGH for to little. If they included a classic controler with the bundle, and few (two or three) virtual console games I would have been ok with that price. I was hoping for $199 but expected $229(with the things i mentioned before) but $249, thats to much for a console that has old technology and no HD capability. I guess when sony announced only 500k systems for ps3 lunch nintendo figured that they would sell their console for 250 since there will be no ps3 around by the time it launches. I will eventually get Wii but not at lunch. I will wait untill the price goes below 200. -Mike  i was planning to buy a wii at launch but now that i know the price for the console and the controller. i would prefer to gather a extra $150 and buy a xbox 360, ehich play DVD and the games are in HD. or just go for the big one and buy me a PS3 which i have everything and it is best out all three systems. i love nintendo and i grew with nintendo but they seem lost on understanding today gamers. Games evolve just like people. Nintendo just prove one more time that they are in the stone age. Nintendo you SUCK -Henry  I’m a little angered over the statement made not too long ago about how the Wii would cost under $250. Come to find out it will be $249.99! Is this Nintendo’d idea of a sense of humor? I was stoked about getting a Wii, now I’m going to wait for the price drop. It has a value of $200 in my mind, and I won’t purchase it until it is that cheap! Sorry Big N, but you veered off course with the lack of DVD playback, and burnt me with a high price tag. The 360 is looking really good to me right now! -Ben  |
| Ryan Heath responds: There has definitely been a backlash to the announced Wii launch price of $249.99. But, I do need to address this comparison of the Wii only being $50 less than an Xbox 360.
Purchasing the Xbox 360 Core pack will NOT allow you to go online or purchase Xbox Live arcade games (needs the $100 hard drive), it comes with one wired controller, no ability to save games without purchasing a $40 memory card and has no built in Wi-Fi capabilities. A pack-in game tops the list of what the Xbox 360 Core pack also does not come with. Meanwhile, Wii comes with the ability to go online FOR FREE, Wi-Fi out of the box, comes with a wireless controller, doesn’t require the purchase of a memory card for saving games and you’re able to download games with no additional hard drive purchased. To top that all off, it comes with a freaking game!! If you truly want to compare an Xbox 360 Core pack to Wii, let’s be honest. In order to have the Xbox 360 Core pack match the functionality of a Wii out of the box, it will require a lot more money than just $50. |
