My Day of Video Game Sightseeing
Yesterday, I decided to make a few rounds at the five big department stores-Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Best Buy, and Toys ‘R Us-as well as Gamestop, just to see if there were anything out of the ordinary.ÂÂ
My first stop was K-Mart. The Pokemon Mystery Games for GBA and DS were ALREADY OUT! That was a big surprise, especially since games here typically come out on a Wednesday, not a Monday. Also, that darn Suite Life with Zack and Cody is out for the DS. If you want this crap, GO TO K-MART! NOW!!!
When I was in my car heading to Target, I heard an announcement of the new Plain White T’s song “I Really Don’t Like You” The song was played afterwards, which actually was quite good, considering I despise emo rock. Anyway, right after, they announced that they would be making their debut here (Milwaukee) at the Nintendo Fusion Tour (already knew, but PUBLICITY! THAT’S WHAT NINTENDO NEEDS!)
Boy, isn’t West Allis and Milwaukee, Wisconsin BORING! Anyway, onward to Target. If you are looking for a DS Kit from Intec, which includes stylus, protector screens, a recharge plug, and the whole bit, there was one for $30. Not bad. They had empty skews of Danny Phantom, Bratz, and Open Season for the DS, all coming Wednesday. Two suspicious things here: the light bulbs were burnt out in a Cube and a DS section (strange) and GEIST FOR CUBE IS $12.48? (very strange; I thought it was still $50 last time I checked.) Any confirmation would be appreciative. If this is true, I suggest people to buy this one. IT’S AN AWESOME GAME!
Next up, Toys’ R Us. AHHH. Strange music. They were playing “Stairway to Heaven” at Toys ‘R Us. HA! Well, first, I noticed a BIG secion cleared of Gamecube consoles-Wii kiosk going there, or maybe Cube is ACTUALLY SELLING! There was another skew goof-up. They had two skews for Pirates of the Carribean for the DS: one at $30 and another at $35. Lastly, they had some SWEET Cube price drops: Need For Speed: Underground ($6.98), Spyro: Hero’s Tale ($9.98), NHL 2006 ($ 10.98), Spartan: Total Warrior ($13.98), and the BIG ONE: FIRE EMBLEM: PATH OF RADIANCE FOR $20.48! Very cheap indeed!
Best Buy was dull, but again Trace Memory had 2 skews: one for $30 and one for $20. I’m believing the $20 one…
Continuing, I went to my local Southridge mall and headed to Gamestop. I noticed a REALLY cool Twilight Princess skin for the Gamecube. Very green. (I wonder if I could use this on the Wii!) I went to the Cube section. WHERE IS IT? Well, an employee was taking the Used Cube games off the wall. I asked, “Where are you taking my used games?” jokingly. Well, they moved them near the DS games at the front of the store, which I knew were moved also. TWO MORE MONTHS? WII KIOSKS? I decided to reserve good ole recently-added Twilight Princess and Excite Truck for the Wii, marking 6 games reserve for the Wii at launch, 7 with Wii Sports. Anyway, I asked the employee about Contact DS. I wanted to roll it over to a Wii title instead, but they couldn’t do it because they needed the phone number that I used for it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do anything with it, so I’ll have to talk to the manager at a different time. Isn’t that nice, DARN GAMESTOP!
Lastly, there really was nothing new at Wal-mart. Hey, since I was there, I might as well by some candy! It’s cheap, I suppose.ÂÂ
Well that’s a wrap. I hope to tell you more of my adventures at a later date. Peace.
