Red Steel Changes
Some new info here, like the Red Steel team reducing the loading times and the option of adjusting your Wiimote’s sensitivity.ÂÂ
E3 attendees criticized Red Steel’s sword fighting, expecting a more realistic experience. We reported earlier this summer that Ubisoft was changing the sword fighting gameplay, and Ubisoft is continuing in that direction, listening to complaints, and re-working the swordplay to mimic the player’s movements exactly, according to German Nintendo site Nintendo-Lan.
Some Wii games are using the remote in conjunction with a gesture system, essentially mapping a button-like control to a particular movement. In the E3 demo, Red Steel’s sword fighting sections used that gesture system. Now, however, in the final version, instead of a sword swipe initiating a predetermined attack, the onscreen character will perform the exact same sword swipe, tracking the player’s movement of Wii’s motion-sensitive remote.
Ubisoft also told the site that the controller’s sensitivity will be adjustable, while Ubisoft is improving the graphics for the retail version. Also, keeping with Nintendo’s theme of Wii being a fast, pick-up-and-play system, Ubisoft is eliminating Red Steel’s load times.
