Spongebob Details

Spongebob will feature several modes of play and will utilize the Wiimote differently in every mode.

SpongeBob Hits the Road
This week, we bring readers a closer look at the racing portions of the game. THQ describes these levels for us and explains how the Wii controller is utilized within them below. We’ve quoted everything verbatim.

Diesel, chrome, rubber and metal flake paint, all oozing with adrenaline… the first of the game’s two driving worlds is Diesel Dreaming where SpongeBob is finally able to live his fantasy of racing a hot rod through a hi-octane world. The only problem is that this world is coming apart at the seams and turning into a nightmare, literally. Familiar faces such as Plankton, Gary and even old pal Patrick have become menacing warriors of the road, and SpongeBob must do all he can to drive and survive. Look for the jumps and the turbo boosts to help his cause.

The second driving world is Hypnotic Highway, a plunge into the deep sea featuring spiraling, twisting shapes and patterns all swathed in the un-earthly glowing colors produced by black light. And then there are the fantastic phosphorescent creatures dangerously curious of alien invaders. This carnival-like atmosphere becomes the setting for the final chase to capture the devious Krabby Patty. Players not only get to race as SpongeBob, but if they find all the hidden sleepy seeds throughout the dream worlds, they can also play as Patrick and Plankton, each in his own unique vehicle and with his own special ending.

How the controller works: Flip the Remote Control on its side and grip it like a steering wheel for a whole new and intuitive virtual driving experience! Accelerate, break and lean the controller left and right to take the tight corners in a thrilling ride!

Check out a batch of new screenshots and video footage — all from the Wii version of the game — in our media section below. And tune in next week for much more.
