nintendo logoSoftware sales headed by NCAA Football 2007, and hardware sales by the Nintendo DS!

July’s NPD numbers are out, and if the data is any indication, there should be some high-fiving and dancing at the HQs of Nintendo and EA.

While the industry beat expectations, with sales up 22% over last year at $386M (projections believed the industry would be up 15% at $365M), Nintendo and EA were the big winners this month.The DS trounced the hardware sales, with the PS2 taking second and the Xbox 360 reglegated to third place.

Here’s all the numbers:

* Nintendo DS: 377,000
* PS2: 241,000
* 360: 206,000
* GBA: 163,000
* PSP: 161,000
* GCN: 44,000
* Xbox: 12,000

In terms of software (ranked on revenue earned, not units sold), NCAA Football ’07 took three of the top four slots, with the PS2 version at #1, 360 at #2, and Xbox at #4. New Super Mario Bros. broke up the EA love-fest at the top of the charts by coming in at #3. A real shocker is Chromehounds, situating itself in the top five at #5. Here’s the complete list:
