NIntendo to Pull the Plug if Wii fails?

There has been a lot of talk about Nintendo pulling out of the Video Game industry.
In 2004, Nintendo almost went out after the DS….
Nintendo have announced this morning that there will be no new hardware from the Japanese giant after they release the DS. This will be sad news to everyone who is a fan of the little Italian plumber who seems to have finally been retired.
After impressive industry moves from rivals Sony giving glimpses of the PSP in action and analysts predicting the PS3 will outsell every other console then Microsoft demonstrating their new XNA technology that will drive Xbox2 forward Nintendo were left stunned.
Speaking to I.T. Vibe, Kan Yu Takajok, senior hardware developer for Nintendo said;
“What’s the point? We all sat round and watched the Sony PSP demo and realised we’ve been wasting our time for the last 15 months”
Nintendo’s move mirrors that of the other long time Japanese giant Sega when they decided to pull the plug on their hardware side.
Nintendo are apparently still undecided on whether they will keep producing games.
A spokesperson said:
“Gamers these days don’t want innovation. They’re more interested in playing GTA2005, FIFA 2009 or some other jumped up franchise sequel, gamers just don’t want innovative and original games like Mario 256″
So we might have seen the last of the little red plumber after all.
But now, Nintendo might if Wii fails.
But this maybe highly unlikely since the Wii has much popularity.
PS3 forums are talking about it, even the people that were razzed up for the PS3 or changing sides.
Lets just hope Nintendo doesn’t want to do this…
