SNK Waiting for PS3 Involvemnet
Poor, poor PS3…
Another three or four years will go by before SNK Playmore supports the PlayStation 3.
That’s what the company’s overseas marketing manager, Yoshihito Koyama says in an interview with Kotaku. Koyama insists that development costs for Sony’s latest platform are simply too high: “Maybe 2009-2010 is a good time to release a game for the PS3,” he adds.
SNK released a high-powered, overpriced system of its own back in the early nineties, the Neo-Geo Advanced Entertainment System. Coincidentally, that system was also priced at 0, and Koyama says it was no surprise that the Neo-Geo wasn’t a big hit. “We didn’t expect to sell a lot of home systems. A few crazy people bought them.”
SNK Playmore has already announced support for Wii, with the Metal Slug Anthology expected to be a launch title. Koyama says he isn’t quite sure when the launch will be, but he expects it to happen around Thanksgiving.
