MoSys on Wii

MoSys says that Nintendo was granted a patent for the 1T-SRAM for the Grahics system.

While reporting the company’s second quarter 2006 financial results, semiconductor memory technology developer MoSys today confirmed that Nintendo has selected its patented 1T-SRAM technologies within its upcoming Wii’s graphics system. The single transistor bit cell used in 1T-SRAM memory results in the technology achieving much higher density than traditional six transistor SRAMs while using the same standard logic manufacturing processes. The company saw total revenue of $2.3 million for the period, and Chet Silvestri, Chief Executive Officer of MoSys, commented that MoSys anticipates “strong royalty growth from the success of Nintendo’s Wii video game console” during 2007.
