October 2nd Wii Release?

Don’t get your panties in a bunch, folks. This is their hunch…

Nintendo has announced its fall and winter software lineup — with some notable absences.

While the first-party software schedule for the GBA and DS have been fully disclosed, no Wii titles made the list, and Twilight Princess for GameCube was given a vague “fall” release date, which most game players could already have guessed.

The only first-party Game Boy Advance release for the fourth quarter is Final Fantasy V Advance, which is scheduled to debut on November 6. The DS release list follows:

October 9: Clubhouse Games
October 16: Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends
October 23: Magical Starsign
October 30: Pokémon Ranger
October 30: Children of Mana
November 6: Elite Beat Agents
November 13: Yoshi’s Island 2
December 4: Custom Robo Arena
December 4: Kirby Squeak Squad

Reading between the lines, the only weeks without a release scheduled are October 2, November 20 and 27. Assuming that Wii won’t launch in December and that it also won’t launch on a date with a DS title already shipping to stores, one of those dates is probably the system’s launch date, and October 2 seems like a plum choice, considering it is the only one of those three to happen before the launch of Sony’s PlayStation 3. Of course, this entire paragraph was speculation, so don’t pawn the silverware just yet.
