Nintendo on iPods!

Nintendo classics on iPod’s…could be possible, but no confirmation has been released.

Rumors of Apple entering the videogame industry have swirled since they grabbed hold of the portable MP3 market, but nothing’s ever come to fruition. According to an unconfirmed rumor on MacRumors, another Apple-centric website that’s been sued by the company for mostly on-point sources, Apple is currently planning on making classic Nintendo games playable on their next iPod.

The website was unable to confirm the speculation with other sources, but it would fit within previous discussion about the company’s future. Many wondered if Apple was planning on entering the handheld market itself when an Apple job posting asked for a programmer with experience in very gaming-centric hardware. Since then, however, we’ve heard nothing.

MacRumors’ source also goes onto claim the games will be playable via a “special accessory.” Nintendo’s classics aren’t currently available on mobile phones, so we’re wondering what would make an iPod partnership so special to them, so we’ll wait and see how this one pans out — if at all.
