DS Gets a New Mech Game
Mech games are very popular, and I am surprised at the lack of them on a Nintendo system. Sandlot would like to change that.
The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed Nintendo and Sandlot have teamed up to make Chousouju Mecha MG, a mech game for DS separate from Nintendo’s own Custom Robo.
Detailing the quest of Martin, a thirteen year old boy cutting his teeth behind the controls of a giant robot, Chousouju Mecha MG features an innovative control set-up, allowing players to enter commands to their robots (called “Marionetion Gears”, or MGs for short) through a virtual dashboard, manipulated by the stylus. Each MG will have a different interface which, with over 100 different robots available, will leave players with a lot of options.
At this time, no Japanese release date has been announced, and no American release at all has been confirmed. Given the overwhelming demand for DS games on this side of the world, however, it’s very likely Nintendo and Sandlot will be bringing this one to the US.
