Ninja Gaiden Creator Talks About Wii
Tomonobu Itagaki, the very outspoken creator of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive discussed his feelings about the Wii with Game Informer. Cubed3 managed to sum up what he think’s of working on Nintendo’s next-gen system.
He believes the Wii controller is very interesting. However, he has no plans to develop for Wii now as he is busy with three projects other projects (Dead of Alive Xtreme 2, Dead of Alive Cronus and Ninja Gaiden 2, the last of which is not confirmed on ANY system yet).If Ninja Gaiden 2 was made for the Wii, then there would be a problem with the sword control, especially related to drawing backwards and then striking. Enemies would have to have their intelligence reduced to counter this control issue. People have different strength levels, so in his opinion this means that there would be too much variation in the speed that different people move the controller, which would lead to difficulties in development, rather than making development simpler.
I really hope to see the Ninja Gaiden series return to the NES. The trilogy of NES games remains one of my favorite series to this day.
