Ray Harryhausen Eyeing Games
Most of the youngins (myself included) probably aren’t fully aware of the impact special effects legend Ray Harryhausen has had on modern visuals. This man’s stop motion work on Clash of the Titans and Jason and the Argonauts single-handedly changed the way people made movies, and we all know how much films have influenced videogames.
Harryhausen’s interests are finally catching up to modern mediums, however, and The Hollywood Reporter says the 85-year-old filmmaker’s developing a series of new features, TV movies, video games and merchandising in conjunction with Mindfire Entertainment under a “Ray Harryhausen Presents” labeling. Scripts dealing Greek mythology and an alien invasion are already on the table. It’s unknown how much influence Harryhausen will have on the projects outside of developing the initial concepts and scripts; up until now, the aging creator hasn’t been involved with the videogames industry. What the future brings, however, is certainly up in the air; Harryhausen doesn’t appear to be growing old lying down.
